Pumpkin Carving

Since Mac, Ethan, and Auntie Kim weren't able to spend a long time in Arizona for this visit, we decided to try to maximize our time as much as possible. After we came home from the pumpkin patch, we got ourselves settled (and bathed), had some dinner, and then anxiously awaited for our other cousins to arrive!

We spent the evening carving our pumpkins so they would be ready for the trick or treaters on Halloween.

Once everyone got their pumpkins carved, we were ready to take some pumpkin pictures!

Madelyn picked an owl for her pumpkin, and Daddy helped her gut and carve it.

(UPDATE: Chloe wanted us to know how much she did not appreciate being left alone the next day, and decided to EAT Madelyn's pumpkin. Silly dog. Madelyn's exact words: "Oh no! Chloe ate my pumpkin! Daddy! Daddy! I need a new one!")

Oooh. And don't forget the pumpkin seeds! As I learned this year, she who yells the loudest, "Pumpkins seeds are my favorite!" gets stuck with the chore of cleaning them. They did turn out quite yummy, too!

Then, as per our annual tradition, we made the kids pose for a few quick jammie pictures. HA! Not so quick, actually. As it turns out, getting five children to work together and all smile at the same time proved to be a little more difficult than expected. Isn't that supposed to get easier as they get older??

We did manage to get s few cute ones...

This one made us all laugh. All of the kids were trying to figure out what we meant by "lay on your stomach with your feet toward the door. I was a little baffled at how difficult those directions seemed to be to understand, but as you can see, we got a little bit of everything. Ethan had the right position, and Madelyn, well, she didn't quite understand, but she DID flash that gorgeous smile of hers at just the right time! ;)

We were a little sad when we realized the next time the Halloween holiday will fall on a weekend, Mac will be in college. Eeek!
