Doc McStuffins Comes to Town!

Late last week I heard that the Doc McStuffins Mobile was coming to Phoenix and I knew Madelyn would have a great time. Chris wasn't overly excited about the neighborhood where the event would be, so lucky for him he had to work, and Madelyn and I planned a fun morning together.

We were excited to meet Madelyn's friend, Isabelle, and her family at the event.

The line was pretty long when we got there, and it was first come, first served. But it was a very organized event so time passed by quickly, especially when you're using the field next to the line to do some improve dancing. :)

The exhibit was very interactive, with lots of fun kid activities.

The part Madelyn was really excited about was getting to go into the Doc McStuffins Mobile! Kids were encouraged to bring a stuffed animal, and of course, Madelyn chose Tallulah. :)

Once we made our way through the entire exhibit, we realized that Doc McStuffins was coming for a meet and greet! Oh my! The only problem was that she wasn't coming for an hour. I explained to Madelyn that an hour was a long time, and that it was starting to get warm outside. She insisted we stay nonetheless. So, we found a seat on the lawn at the end of the a very long line, and waited patiently. We talked with some other people who were waiting, and we grabbed a quick snack. Fortunately, our hour wait only lasted 30 minutes! Again, the whole event was incredibly organized, so this made me extremely happy!

And I must say, Madelyn's excitement when she finally met Doc really made my day!

Home Depot Project

We recently watched a promo for Home Depot which explained how the first Saturday of every month is kid project day! Chris decided this would be a great opportunity for him and Madelyn to have a couple hours just to themselves. No arguments from Mommy on that one. ;)

Since football season is here, this month's project was a football ring toss. I love how she stuck to her roots and painted it green and gold! Go Pack Go! :)

And of course, the project was topped off with a little face painting. That never seems to get old for Miss Madelyn. :)

Coconino County Fair

This weekend we took a quick trip up north for the Coconino County Fair in Flagstaff. We knew it was going to be rainy, but we were hopeful that we might miss the majority of the storms. Our hopes of a dry day did not pan out, but we had lots of fun nonetheless!

Our friends, Dave, Krista, and Scout joined us (they are actually the ones who suggested it, so I guess we joined them - wink).

It was definitely a wet day, so we spent a lot of time relaxing (and eating - a lot) under the tents. Thank goodness for the tents! But as the rain slowed or stopped we made our way back out to do some rides, and play some games. Madelyn and Scout even did the super bouncy trampoline!

Madelyn was so excited, and suited up in the harness, waiting in line. As she stood there, she watched another little girl jumping to the moon and doing flip after flip. It was at this point that she decided this trampoline thing wasn't for her. She looked at me and said she didn't want to do it. But I tried to encourage her, telling her she would love it once she was up there. She kept shaking her head and mouthing the word  "no," but I kept telling her she would love it. I even reminded her that she didn't have to jump high, or do flips. Then, wouldn't you know it, out came the potty card. She knows we can't say no to that. Smart little cookie. But despite her sneaky little plan we know her, and we weren't about to let her give up this easily. We did let her go to the bathroom, but, when she came back, Daddy continued to encourage her, and I pulled the money card (as in we already paid for it), and she finally gave in when we said that the day must be over if she wasn't going to try. Gosh, we're terrible. But we do know our kid. And we knew how excited she was to try it, and we knew her friend Scout just got finished and had a blast, so we knew she'd be sad about it later when we were talking about it at dinner.

Boy, were our instincts right! She LOVED it! And here's a video to prove it!

We ended our day listening to a live band playing on the stage, where Madelyn and Scout had a fantastic time dancing (in the rain)!

Don't tell anyone, but here's the real reason I wanted to come up to Flagstaff, one of our favorite places for wings, The Lumberyard. Delicious!

And the girls loved choosing their dessert: BRIGHT ORANGE POPSICLES!
